Fungal Infection• Whitish cottony tufts or patches appear on the mouth, skin and fins of tropical fish, goldfish and koi. • We recommend API PIMAFIX. |
Fin And Tail Rot• Fins appear ragged and split. Disease can progress until fins and tail are completely eroded. • Secondary fungal infections commonly occur. • We recommend API MELAFIX (or BETTAFIX if you have a betta fish), or alternatively PIMAFIX or FIN & BODY CURE. |
Dropsy and Malawi Bloat• Fish develop a bloated appearance due to accumulation of fluid in the body cavity. • Scales may appear to stick out from the sides of fish. • In advanced cases, fish lose the ability to swim and may float upside down. • We recommend API MELAFIX (or BETTAFIX if you have a betta fish) or PIMAFIX, or alternatively FIN & BODY CURE. |
Bacterial Hemorrhagic Septicemia• Fish show blood streaks in the fins and body. • We recommend API MELAFIX (or BETTAFIX if you have a betta fish), or alternatively PIMAFIX or FIN & BODY CURE. |

---|---|---|---|
Eye Cloud, Body Slime• Eyes develop a whitish haze and/or protrude from the head. • Hazy or slimy patches appear on the bodies of fish. • If infested with parasites, fish may scratch on objects in the aquarium and exhibit rapid breathing. • We recommend API MELAFIX (or BETTAFIX if you have a betta fish), or alternatively PIMAFIX or FIN & BODY CURE. |
Open Red Sores• Fish exhibit open red sores on the body. • We recommend API MELAFIX (or BETTAFIX if you have a betta fish), or alternatively PIMAFIX, E.M ERYTHROMYCIN or FIN & BODY CURE. |
Mouth Fungus - Saddleback Disease• Raised, gray patches are observed on the fins and mouth areas of fish. • Live bearers, such as guppies and mollies, develop grayish patches on their backs, giving rise to the name “saddle back disease.” • Infected areas may develop into red ulcers and infect the gills, causing rapid loss of fish. • We recommend API MELAFIX (or BETTAFIX if you have a betta fish) or PIMAFIX, or alternatively E.M ERYTHROMYCIN or FIN & BODY CURE. |
Bacterial Gill Disease• Fish will scratch against objects and appear listless. A grayish film may form on the body. • Rapid breathing in fish may be accompanied by gasping at the surface of the water, or the fish sitting on the bottom of the aquarium. • Gills undergo severe damage, leading to suffocation and death. • We recommend API MELAFIX (or BETTAFIX if you have a betta fish), or alternatively PIMAFIX, E.M ERYTHROMYCIN or FIN & BODY CURE. |

Flukes/Parasitic Worms• Most parasitic worms are not visible without the aid of a microscope. Fish will scratch against objects and appear listless. A grayish film may form one the body. • Rapid breathing in fish may be accompanied by gasping at the surface of the water, or the fish sitting on the bottom of the aquarium. • Gills undergo severe damage, leading to suffocation and death. • We recommend API GENERAL CURE. For secondary or fungal infection, use MELAFIX (or BETTAFIX if you have a betta fish) and PIMAFIX together. |
Hole-In-The-Head Disease (Hexamita)• The most obvious symptom is the pitting and erosion of skin and muscle tissue around the face of the fish. This erosion appears to be a symptom of the parasite's presence in the intestinal tract, not on the surface of the fish. • Many fish exhibit poor appetite, weight loss and nervousness; without proper treatment, death ultimately results. • We recommend API GENERAL CURE |
Ich (Ichthyophthirius)• Early symptoms of this infection in fish include darting in the aquarium and scratching against the gravel and ornaments. • Fish exhibit labored breathing and may remain at the water's surface, near filters and aeration devices. • White spots may or may not be visible on the fish. • We recommend API SUPER ICK CURE along with API AQUARIUM SALT |
Subclinical Parasitic Infestation• Fish may scratch on objects in the aquarium. • Slimy skin may develop on fish and fins may be clamped. • Labored breathing may be observed. • We recommend API SUPER ICK CURE along with API AQUARIUM SALT. |

Directions
Directs: for best results, remove filter media and continue aeration. For each 10 gallons of water, empty one packet directly into aquarium. Repeat dose after 24 hours. After another 24 hours, perform a partial water change (25%). Repeat this treatment for a second time for a total of 4 doses, then make a 25% water change and add fresh filter media. Treatment may be repeated if necessary. Note: this medication will cause a slight discoloration of water which can be removed with BIO-CHEM ZORB or activated carbon. Tip: Antibiotic medicine may inhibit the biological filter. Adding API QUICK START, a nitrifying bacteria, is recommended after treatment to boost the biological filter. This package treats up to 100 gallons. Four doses required for full course of treatment.

I then decided to treat with Furan-2, and after the four days of treatment, I did a 50% water change. It has been 3 days since I finished the course of treatment and I have seen more improvement in my fish in these few days than I saw out of the past 3 weeks. You can see the growth that is occurring on the outer edge of his fins and how he is overall more healthy.
I am extremely satisfied with this product and I think that it has worked wonders on my betta!

I am extremely satisfied with this product and I think that it has worked wonders on my betta!
The next day, his fin was deteriorating to the point where it was red, thready, and close to turning into body rot. My betta could no longer swim well, and was very lethargic and not eating much. I was convinced he was dying.
I ordered this medication as a last ditch effort to save him. I dosed the medication and went to bed. The next day, he was perkier, his fin looked like there was a little new growth forming, and he was eating again. I was in disbelief. I did 2 rounds of treatment, and he recovered fully.
My plants were fine the first round of treatment, but by the 2nd round, I lost about 50% of them at least. Although they also had less light and were nutrient deprived of nitrogen, potassium, and some other essential nutrients that contributed to their demise. It is hard to say had the plants had proper light and ferts if they would have succumbed to it.
My crypts, dwarf lily, rotala sp, sagittaria, and dwarf water lettuce all bounced back after adding Thrive ferts. My anubias was unaffected. My salvinia all died, along with my wisteria, bolbitis, aponogeton bulbs, and a couple others. Most likely though, they died mainly from lack of light and nutrients as well.
Snails (pond, ramshorn, malaysian trumpets) were unaffected by it.
Overall, highly recommend giving this medication a shot to treat fin rot.
Not as expensive as some of the other stuff but still wished it was a little bit more reasonable in price. I guess reasonable depends on your view if you're trying to save a fish that is worth more than the med or not.
Furan-2 hoping it will relieve his distress. He has been floating on his side and having major difficulty swimming.. His buoyancy was completely off. . After some research on SBD, I learned that he may possibly have a bacterial infection that would need AB.. I am so please to say that with just the initial dose of this product, my princey poo is back to swimming and exploring his tank... He greeted me in the morning like he usually did before he became ill. I am very pleased and I will add this to my fish first aid kit to always have on hand. . I'm positive after this treatment my little guy will be completely healed..
